Understanding, Evaluating, and Treating People Who Have Sexually Abused
A Five-Day Comprehensive Training Course

David Prescott, LICSW, and Robin J. Wilson, Ph.D., ABPP

At present, there are few – if any – comprehensive training programs for people assessing and treating sexual aggression, although some trainings are facilitated by persons with little experience at the front lines of the profession. David Prescott and Robin Wilson have over half a century of experience between them assessing and treating persons who have sexually abused. They have developed a five-day training program of interest to all levels of experience. It covers:

  • An overview of the field, its history, current status, and unresolved controversies
  • What constitutes sexual deviance? How should professionals understand it?
  • Principles of effective interventions and treatment programming
  • What qualities are important in effective treatment providers
  • Certification in the administration and use of Static-99R, Stable-2007 and Acute-2007
  • An introduction to Motivational Interviewing
  • Overview of community reintegration strategies, including collaborative models such as Containment and Circles of Support and Accountability
